Dressing for rainy weather can always be a bit tricky, at least for me. It’s cold but not really cold. It’s warm but not really warm. And then of course there is the actual rain. This obviously makes everything a huge wet and muddy mess. You see my numerous dilemmas here??? The struggle is real ladies. 🙂
First and foremost I never leave the house without rain boots. Sometimes I will wear them all day and sometimes I bring a pair of shoes to change into once I am securely indoors. Hunter boots are clearly everywhere right now and if you stalk a few websites you can definitely catch them on sale. The ones that I am wearing were originally around $150 and I (ok actually my husband found and bought them for me ) got them for 1/2 off. Yeah!! These boots are so great for not only rain but also doing some yard work during these Spring months. They are a bit “chunky” on the feet so you might even want to think about downsizing 1/2 size.
Ugg also makes a really great pair of rain boots. I happen to own a pair in maroon and bonus the inside sole is lined with a little fur. They are also half the price of the Hunter boots which is another definite plus. These boots fit much tighter on your foot so I would stick with your normal size. I also found that they scratch a bit easier than my Hunter boots, so if you a careless walker like me….beware. Your shiny boots might receive a few nicks.
Secondly you need a rain jacket. Something that can get wet without you worrying about ruining the fabric and obviously keep you dry. I also like mine to be on the looser side so that I can wear a bunch of layers underneath it. Depending on how cold it is I can fit either a heavier sweater or just a light t- shirt underneath this jacket. Look for one with interesting little details or a great color and then you won’t feel so sad about having to cover up your cute outfit with a coat. This one is from Stitch Fix and I totally love it. It definitely meets all my needs while keeping me looking good in the rain. Also love the color of this one, and this classic fit in red is gorgeous.
Now this one might seem a little silly but seriously buy yourselves a cute umbrella. They are so cheap and you can literally find any color/print that you like. If you are going to be using one, why carry a plain old black one? I like ones with bright colors and funky prints. They just seem to add a little bit of sunshine to an otherwise dark, dreary day.
Stay dry and looking cute ladies!
Travel mugs are great for rainy days. You can take your coffee, tea, hot chocolate, ect along with you. A small sip and instant warmth from the inside out. I am rarely found without one. 🙂
